Thrust I: van der Waals & Phase-change Materials

We will develop a new family of van der Waals (2D) and phase-change chalcogenide materials with various dimensions and length scales to investigate their structure-property-performance relationships. Plus, their physical/chemical/thermal properties will be manipulate by native defect, doping, alloying such that we can redesign them for enhanced electronic and optoelectronic applications in information technologies.

  • 2D materials including transition and post-transition metal (di)chalcogenides

  • Phase-change materials and their memory operations

  • Defect/device physics to reveal new functionalities

  • Thermal/thermoelectric properties of van der Waals crystals
